In 1995, a CD was released called "Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits", and it
included a collection of various TV theme songs, covered by some popular bands of the
time.
The Bugaloos Theme Song was covered by a band called Collective Soul. Upon first listen, the song really wasn't to my liking ... perhaps a little too "heavy" for the Bugaloos style of music. Here's a link for more information on Collective Soul: In addition to the CD, a videotape was also released. The videotape features videos for all the songs, and includes commentary/banter from Drew Barrymore and friends. They comment fondly about most of the shows/tunes, but seem to be somewhat less fond of our Bugaloo buddies. The majority of the group do little more than ask "What's a Bugaloo", where one particularly annoying guy spends his time futilely trying to change the channel. Aside from these distractions, the remainder of the video is made up of various clips from the show itself (Collective Soul is not shown at all) and, I thought it was fairly cute. I felt it was rather well done, and made good use of the footage. So, I think I enjoyed the song more with the video accompaniment, minus the miscreant above. :-) |
For those that are interested, the CD and VHS videotape should still be available through standard
retail channels, and the CD tends to show up a lot on
E-Bay, so you might consider
shopping for one there.
